Tottenham will imminently make their move for Arsenal target Juan Mata, it has been claimed.

According to the Daily Mail, the north London duo are both pursuing the Valencia winger, who has been valued by his club at around £21 million.

But it would appear Spurs are ready to make the early running in pursuit of the 23-year-old, in an attempt to beat Arsenal to his signature.

However, Arsenal are reported to have entered into negotiations with the Spain international, although Spurs hope to convince Mata a switch to White Hart Lane would represent a better move to further his development.

Mata has also been linked with a move to Liverpool, but Arsenal and Spurs seem to have pulled away from their Barclays Premier League rivals.

The acquisition of more potent attacking options is thought to be a summer priority for Arsenal and Spurs, and pulling off the capture of Mata would be quite a coup for either club.

Mata scored eight times in La Liga last season, and also weighed in with a healthy 15 assists.
