Arsenal have confirmed the capture of Gervinho from Lille, to finally bring to a conclusion one of the longest running transfer stories of the summer so far.

An Ivory Coast international, Gervinho scored 15 times last season as Lille won the Ligue 1 title for the first time since 1954, and has reportedly been courted by Liverpool and Tottenham.

However, the Gunners have won the race for his signature - with Arsene Wenger confirming the 24-year-old has completed a move to the Emirates Stadium.

"Gervinho has just joined up for training on Sunday at London Colney," said the Arsenal boss during a press conference in Malaysia.

"He signed last Thursday, and has just come back from his holidays."

Gervinho, who is able to operate through the middle or on the wing, will provide Arsenal with added versatility going forward, as well as taking the goalscoring burden away from Robin Van Persie.

Meanwhile, Nicklas Bendtner could reportedly be on his way out of north London, with the Danish striker tipped to join Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund.

The 23-year-old joined Arsenal from FC Copenhagen in 2005, and has scored 43 goals during his time with the club.
