Coventry have missed out on a loan deal for Liverpool striker Dani Pacheco.

The 20-year-old Spaniard was on loan at Norwich last season, finding the net against the Sky Blues on the last day.

City looked to have sealed a deal for the youngster but that has now fallen through, with Liverpool wanting the highly-rated youngster to remain closer to Merseyside.

Boss Andy Thorn told the Coventry Telegraph: "We thought we had him in the bag but these things happen.

"But that's the type of quality we are looking at and now we are waiting on a couple of players from Premier League clubs.

"But we will have to wait another 10 or 12 days before we get answers as to whether we can take them on loan."
