Kenny Dalglish may turn to Lyon defender Aly Cissokho to reinforce the left-back position at Anfield, according to L'Equipe.

The defender is seen as a solid addition after the club missed out on Gael Clichy, after 'King Kenny' failed to land the Frenchman from Arsenal. The defender opted to sign for Manchester City instead for £7 million.

After Paul Konchesky departed Liverpool for Leicester City this week, it has left Dalglish’s side short staffed in the left-back position and in need of a player at Anfield.

Liverpool have previously been linked to Newcastle’s Jose Enrique. The Spaniard has confirmed he will not extend his current deal at St. James’ Park, which only has one year remaining.

However, it has been reported that Dalglish has turned his attentions to Cissokho after he apparently fell out of favour with the hierarchy at Lyon and is available to Liverpool for a cut-price.

Lyon coach Rémi Garde told French newspaper L’Equipe that they are willing to listen to offers. He said: “Aly is an important player for us, but if an offer matches our expectation, he is likely to go.”
