Salomon Kalou believes the Chelsea squad is good enough to win the Barclays Premier League without any additional signings the new manager might have in mind.

The 25-year-old Ivorian international insisted that the players are already looking strong in pre-season and are ready to challenge for the title.

New boss Andre Villas-Boas has made an instant impression, and Kalou says that Chelsea do not need any further acquisitions in order to bring success back to Stamford Bridge.

"It is up to the manager to decide who to bring in but we know we have the quality in the team to win the league," he said confidently.

"There is quality in the squad and now we have to play together. We have to keep going and I believe in the players.

"There is a new manager, new challenge and a new chance for everyone and the one who shows better desire and quality will play. We are really confident and we are looking to win back the Premier League.

"It won't be easy because of teams like Man City and Man United and Arsenal always present," Kalou continued.

"That is the reason why the Premier League is the best in the world because there are so many teams who can win it and it is not easy to predict.

Kalou was also full of praise for the newly appointed Blues boss, who is currently assessing his squad ahead of the new season.

"He was here before with Jose Mourinho and everyone is satisfied with the way we are training and what we are doing with the ball.

"We are enjoying getting back to that moment where everything we do is with the ball whereas before, pre-season was all about running and fitness.

"He is the manager and every player is looking forward to working under his direction. We all have respect for him."
