Leicester City’s director of football Andrew Neville has announced the club are close to completing their eighth signing of the summer, while adding the Foxes could have 12 new faces at the King Power Stadium before the close of the transfer window.

Neville is expecting a new signing to complete a move early this week and join up with the team during their pre-season tour of Austria.

Leicester have emerged as favourites for the Npower Championship after flexing their financial muscles in the transfer window. Sven-Goran Eriksson has brought the likes of David Nugent, Paul Konchesky and Matt Mills to provide the Foxes with a genuine chance of gaining promotion to the Barclays Premier League.

Despite the overhaul of the squad Neville says the club are not finished in the transfer market. However, he did say he wants to wrap up any further additions as quickly as possible.

"I would say three or four more will be coming in," he explained. "We are pretty close with one and he should be joining us in Austria this week.

“There are other ones where it is very difficult to say how close we are. It could be five minutes or it could be a week.

"Ideally, we want them sooner rather than later because it is pretty much going to be a new-look side this season, and we need to hit the ground running.”

There have been rumours of a big name signing coming to the Foxes with the influential powers of Eriksson helping the club to land bigger names.

"With the high-profile manager we have got, he is going to attract players,” he added. “There are all sorts of names being banded about and it is possible, but they must want to be here.”
