Chelsea will make a late bid to sign Bayern Leverkusen midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to The Mirror.

The Chilean, who is currently playing with Mexico at the Copa America, had been close to signing for Juventus.

But Chelsea now appear keen to sign the 24-year-old, who is also interesting Arsenal.

The midfielder is valued at £12 million, a fee that both Arsenal and Chelsea, who are both keen to strengthen, will see as tempting with Cesc Fabregas and Michael Essien both set to be unavailable to the club for different reasons.

While Leverkusen's 2nd placed finish in the Bundesliga will assure them Champions league football, Arsenal and Chelsea's top four finish will mean Vidal won't be making a step down.
