Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson says striker Ched Evans' future must be resolved "as quickly as possible".
The 22-year-old Welsh international has been linked with moves to Leicester City, Cardiff and Middlesbrough and has not joined his teammates for warm-weather training in Malta.
"The situation needs to be sorted out one way or another as quickly as possible," Wilson told The Star.
"We all need to know where we are likely to stand so we can get on with things one way or the other.
"That's not a criticism of anybody. It's just stating fact.
"If Ched is going to leave then I'm sure he'd like to know where his future is sooner rather than later.
"Likewise, we want to know if he's going to be on his way or staying with us because that could change some of the things we do."
