Chelsea have returned to Anderlecht with an improved offer for long-term teen target Romelu Lukaku amid additional interest from Arsenal according to talkSPORT.

The 18-year-old Belgian international striker, dubbed the 'new Didier Drogba' is widely regarded as one of Europe's brightest prospects, and has been heavily linked with a move to England this summer.

Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to bring Lukaku to Stamford Bridge, and has engineered a renewed Chelsea bid after their initial offer of £18million was turned down.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has already added Ivorian international Gervinho to his Gunners front line, has also been credited with an interest in bringing Lukaku to the Emirates Stadium, and is weighing up a rival bid for the talented youngster ahead of the new season.

Anderlecht have said they are unwilling to do business for less than £25million, but that hasn't stopped Chelsea from coming in short with their second offer of £20million.

The Blues are said to have included stipulations of their own in the revised deal, with reports emanating from Belgian TV station RTB suggesting that Chelsea want a definitive decision before 4 August.

If that is true it leaves the Gunners in a strong position as well, leaving Wenger and Co. with a clear deadline for the time Arsenal have to make a decision over a potential bid of their own.
