Argentine winger Luciano Civelli has left Ipswich after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The 24-year-old had a year left on his deal but a long-term knee injury meant he managed only 16 appearances since arriving at Portman Road in 2009.

He told the club's official website: "It's a decision I am happy with."

Civelli added: "I will never forget the supporters at Ipswich. They were fantastic to me when I first arrived here and especially when I was injured.

"This is the right decision for me, though. It happens in football that things don't always work out."

Town manager Paul Jewell added: "Luca worked hard to get back after what was obviously a bad injury and wants to be playing regular football again. We wish him every success for the future."
