Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have been boosted in their pursuit of French international Lassana Diarra.

The Real Madrid midfielder appears to be heading for a summer exit from the La Liga giants, after Jose Mourinho left the former Le Havre starlet our of the club's squad for their pre-season tour of America.

Galatasaray have made the first move to sign the player from the Bernabeu, but talkSPORT reports that Diarra has rejected the move to Turkey and is holding out for a possible move to the Barclays Premier League.

The news will come as a major boost to Harry Redknapp, who has been linked with a move for the player at Spurs on a number of occasions this summer.

Redknapp has worked with Diarra in the past, enjoying success together during their brief time at Portsmouth, and the manager is keen to replicate their relationship at Tottenham Hotspur.

With speculation surrounding the future of Wilson Palacios at White Hart Lane, Diarra could be the perfect replacement for the Honduran, who is expected to make a move away from Spurs in the coming weeks.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the player in the past, according to talkSPORT, with Sir Alex Ferguson an admirer of the 26-year-old defensive midfielder.

Despite making three big-name additions at Old Trafford already this summer, Manchester United chief executive David Gill confirmed two days ago that the club would consider a move for another player in the transfer window.

A replacement for the retired Paul Scholes was thought to be the priority, with Wesley Sneijder heavily linked with a move to the Red Devils.

However, Diarra's availability could make him a realistic target, and with Owen Hargreaves also leaving Manchester United this summer, a space may have opened for Diarra to fill at the champions.
