Gillingham have signed Argentinian goalkeeper Paolo Gazzaniga after he was released by Spanish club Valencia.

Gazzaniga, 19, has penned a two-year deal after impressing during a trial period at Priestfield.

Boss Andy Hessenthaler told the club`s official website: "He can become a very good keeper in the future and looks likely to give Ross Flitney a big challenge for the number one jersey."

He added: "He's an exciting prospect and he could work out to be a bit of a gem.

"It's a no brainer, it's not a risk to the football club, he's 6ft 5in and has all the attributes to be a very good keeper.

"He is definitely one for the future."
