What’s the latest transfer news involving Erling Haaland?

A host of Europe’s biggest clubs are currently monitoring Haaland’s situation at Dortmund ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

It was reported by Sky Sports last month that Dortmund are unwilling to accept any offers below £150m for the forward.

Manchester United and Real Madrid are both eyeing up moves for Haaland as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2021/22 campaign whilst Manchester City and Chelsea are also keen to sign the Norwegian.

If these clubs are willing to wait until next year to sign the forward, they could potentially secure his services by exercising a €75m (£65m) release clause in his existing contract which is set to run until 2024.

21/05/2021: As per a report by The Athletic, it is understood that Haaland would prefer a move to Los Blancos over Pep Guardiola's City.

Madrid will be aiming to revamp their squad this summer by drafting in some younger players and thus the Dortmund forward certainly fits the bill.

24/05/2021: According to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol, Haaland is one of the three strikers who Chelsea are considering making a move for this summer.

The Blues are also weighing up swoops for Tottenham Hotspur talisman Harry Kane and Inter Milan forward Romelu Lukaku.

25/05/2021: As per a report by Sky Sports, Real Madrid are looking to overhaul their squad in order to raise funds for a possible move for Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.

Los Blancos are ready to listen to offers for the likes of Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale whilst Luka Jovic could also leave the Bernabeu during the transfer window.

27/05/2021: According to Spanish news outlet AS, Madrid are currently leading the race to sign Haaland due to Florentino Perez's strong relationship with Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke.

However, it is unlikely that Los Blancos will be able to seal a deal for the forward this summer despite being given priority over other clubs as the German side are keen to keep him for another season.

28/05/2021: Speaking to NENT journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft, Haaland has clarified speculation surrounding his future.

The forward has admitted that he has no problem with staying at the Signal Iduna Park next season and respects Dortmund's current transfer stance.

01/06/2021: Despite hinting last week that was he willing to stay at Dortmund, Haaland has now insisted that he hasn't made a definitive call in regards to his future.

Speaking in a news conference before Norway's clashes with Luxembourg and Greece (as cited by Goal), the forward said: "I have not taken a position on that [his future] yet.

"After this international break I will go on vacation, and then I will report for pre-season."

03/06/2021: Speaking on a recent episode of the Here We Go Podcast, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Dortmund will not let Haaland go unless they receive a major bid this summer.

Whilst Die Borussen are reluctant to sell the forward, they could allow his team-mate Jadon Sancho to leave if they receive a bid in the region of €90m (£77.4m) to €95m (£81.7m).

11/06/2021: In a fresh update concerning Haaland's future, it has been revealed that Chelsea's reported interest in the forward is seemingly true.

Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Romano revealed that the Blues are looking to add to their options up-front by making a major signing but may need to pay as much as €400m (£343.2m) in order to seal a deal for the Dortmund ace.

This figure would include an initial transfer fee, a commission to Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and the total cost of a lengthy contract.

What is Erling Haaland’s style of play?

Haaland is known for being an immensely powerful forward who also possesses a great deal of pace.

During a recent Bundesliga game for Dortmund against Stuttgart, he managed to reach a speed of 22.39 mph which eclipsed the previous record held by Bayern defender Alphonso Davies.
As well being capable of using his physicality and pace to beat defenders, the forward is deadly in-front of goal.

In the eight games that he played in the Champions League for Dortmund last season, Haaland scored 10 goals despite only having 17 shots on target.

The forward's presence would suit United as he would be a lethal weapon for the club on the counter-attack against sides who dominate the ball.

How many goals has Erling Haaland scored in his career?

After creating headlines at youth level for Norway by finding the back of the net on nine occasions in a clash with Honduras in 2019, Haaland has since taken senior football by storm.

In the 153 club games he has played during his career, the forward has scored an astonishing total of 106 goals whilst he also chipped in with 28 assists.

Although Haaland hasn’t been as prolific at international level, he has still managed to score seven goals for his country in 12 appearances and will be determined to fire Norway to the World Cup in Qatar next year.
