Liverpool transfers: How much Jurgen Klopp has spent as Anfield boss

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp with his arms folded

When Jurgen Klopp joined Liverpool in October 2015, the side were down in 10th place in the Premier League and in need of a major rebuild. The German coach was going to need a sizeable transfer budget to get the team back on track.

Luckily for Klopp, he has been given the funds to make the Reds a formidable force once more. Since arriving on Merseyside, Klopp has spent a total of £479,565,000, with an average spend of £26,642,500 per player, as reported by Transfermarkt.

Klopp's three biggest Liverpool signings

1. Virgil van Dijk - £76.19m

It seemed like an awful lot of money at the time when van Dijk joined Liverpool from Southampton for a staggering £76.19m on New Years' Eve 2017. He has been worth every penny.

The Dutch giant has gone on to make 130 appearances for the club, and was a key figure in helping the team win the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League the following year.

2. Alisson - £56.25m

Another transfer that has proved to be a masterstroke. Alisson was briefly the most expensive goalkeeper in the world when he left Roma for Liverpool in July 2018 for £56.25m.

He has been a safe pair of hands for Klopp's men ever since, and earned the Premier League Golden Glove award in his first season in England. Like van Dijk, he has been integral to Liverpool's success in Europe and domestically.

3. Naby Keita - £54m

You can't nail every transfer.

This is one that certainly hasn't worked out so far. Keita arrived in the UK from RB Leipzig in 2018 for a hefty fee of £54m, but has battled with injuries throughout his time at the club.

He has only started one league game in 2021, and appears to be a peripheral figure at Liverpool at the moment.

Three signings Liverpool could make this summer

1. Ibrahima Konate

This signing is close to completion, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. He has claimed that personal terms have been agreed, and Liverpool now need to negotiate the exact fee that they will pay for the defender with his current club, RB Leipzig.

2. Dusan Vlahovic

Liverpool have struggled in front of goal at times this season - they scored just once in their first six home league games of 2021.

Vlahovic has had no such problems with finding the net, as he has scored 19 times for Fiorentina in Serie A in 2020/21. His agent has reportedly held talks with Liverpool over a potential move.

3. Jadon Sancho

This potential transfer appears to depend on whether Mohamed Salah remains at Anfield next year.

If the Egyptian winger decides that his future lies elsewhere, Liverpool have reportedly lined up Sancho as a possible replacement.
