Chelsea line up Liverpool centre-back target – reports

Chelsea are interested in signing Liverpool centre-back target Scott Dann, with the Blues hoping to bring the star in if a deal with Serbian defender Slobodan Rajkovic, according to Sky Sports.

Dann moved to Birmingham in 2009 from Coventry City, and has established himself as a top class centre-half.

The 24-year-old has admitted to being a Liverpool fan, but Chelsea are reportedly confident that with the offer of Champions League football on the table, they can get the star out of Liverpool’s clutches.

Chelsea have reportedly been studying DVDs of Dann, and scouts have been sent to watch the star in Birmingham’s pre-season friendlies.

While the club have always been interested in him, Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly putting Rajkovic at the top of his transfer wishlist, pending on a work visa.

Should the visa fall through though, Chelsea will reportedly step up their chase for Dann, putting Liverpool on alert to make a bid as soon as possible for the target.

After Birmingham were relegated at the end of last season, an exit for Dann became all the more likely, meaning neither club would have a problem convincing the Englishman to leave his club.

But whether Dann holds out for a possible offer from Chelsea to play Champions League, or takes up Liverpool now, remains to be seen.
