John Cena is undoubtedly one of the biggest Superstars to ever step foot in WWE.

He was considered the 'Face of the Company' for over a decade at the height of his run and boasts 16 world championship reigns to date.

Only Ric Flair can claim to match that number, but it's widely expected that Cena will return one day to win at least one more world title - making him the most decorated WWE Superstar in history outright.

To the disappointment of many fans, The Leader of the Cenation hasn't been seen in WWE for over 12 months.

His last appearance was at WrestleMania 36, during a FireFly Funhouse match against 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt.

It came as a shock to many that Cena didn't appear at WrestleMania 37 last month, as he usually makes an annual appearance at The Show of Shows.

So when will John finally make his return? Well, it might not be too long after all, judging by his latest social media activity.

In the last 48 hours, he has posted two images on Instagram that appear to be teasing a WWE comeback. Check them out below:

Cena's second Instagram post

Yep, it's fair to say Cena has plenty of fans on the edge of their seats now.

According to WrestlingInc, Cena is currently in Vancouver to film Peacemaker, a Suicide Squad spin-off show.

An earlier report noted that the Peacemaker crew will wrap up shooting in Canada by June, which could allow the WWE icon to return in time for a SummerSlam program.

Cena could be teasing a WWE comeback

If Cena does make a comeback, there are so many Superstars on SmackDown and RAW that would jump at the chance to face him on a big stage.

There's even one NXT star who fancies a shot too - Karrion Kross. Once again last week, the NXT Champion teased a match with Cena, suggesting the pair would have instant in-ring chemistry.

If Cena's social media messages are anything to go on, that dream match could be happening very soon!
