Sha'Carri Richardson has gone viral after footage of her phenomenal run in the USATF Golden Games has wowed athletics fans across the globe.

The up and coming runner, who is just 21-years-old, clocked back-to-back times of 10.74 and 10.77 seconds in the 100m. Richardson has put herself right up there in contention for challenging at this year's Olympic Games for the gold medal. If successful, she will become the first woman to win a 100m gold medal for the USA in 25 years.

Richardson finished with an impressive 10.72 last month, becoming the sixth fastest woman in history. Her time is sandwiched between Tokyo Olympic favourites Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who ran 10.71 and 10.73 back in 2019. The Jamaican duo have a combined eight Olympic medals and both boast two golds each.

At Rio 2016, Fraser-Pryce collected bronze in the 100m, whilst Thompson-Herah scooped gold in both the 100m and 200m. The two were also part of the silver medal-winning 4x100m Jamaican relay team. As far as the record goes for female sprinters of recent years, the bar is set extremely high.

However, Richardson has shown that she has the firepower to muscle her way into the top spot and bring home the glory for her country. The youngster has been active for six years, but only turned professional in 2019. The Dallas-born runner has won four junior titles, helping her relay team win gold at the Pan American U20 Championships in 2017, as well as claiming back-to-back AAU Junior Championship victories and the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships title.

Richardson boldly claimed she is "just getting started" after she clocked her time of 10.74 at the Golden Games – showing that she is more than ready to make the leap from collegiate winner to Olympic champion.
