Conor McGregor wants to fight 'at least' two or three more times in 2021 - after vowing to knock out Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

Former UFC lightweight champion McGregor (22-5) was stunned by former UFC interim lightweight champion Poirier (27-6, 1 NC) in the second round of their main event clash on Fight Island at UFC 257.

McGregor and Poirier are set to run it back for a third time at UFC 264 in Las Vegas on July 10.

Win or lose, however, The Notorious has said that he wants to step into the Octagon at least twice more before the end of the year as he looks to increase his activity.

McGregor, 32, is also the former UFC featherweight champion and candidly revealed the rest of his plans for his fighting career during a fan Q&A on Twitter on Sunday night.

Elsewhere, the Irishman teased details about moving up in weight to challenge UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman as he admitted he has 'always liked' how he has performed at 170 pounds and will 'most certainly be going back up' before he calls time on his career.

When asked about how many more times he is planning on fighting this year, McGregor replied: '2 at least.'

The father-of-two also revealed that he's been training his four-year-old son Conor Jr to stay ready at all times.

However, he added that he plans to train separately from his family for his trilogy fight with Poirier in order to remain focused on the task at hand.

He explained: 'I’ve been training my son since day 1. He will be ready if he decides too [sic].

'I am going to do this fight away from the family also. For a change.

'Fights and boppies and cuddles is a hard one to balance.

'I’m going into this one a wild dog.'

McGregor knocked out Poirier in the first round back in 2014, but The Diamond went on to rebuild his career and exacted his revenge after he became the first man to knock McGregor out in the UFC, with the two due to face off in a rubber match this summer to find out who truly has the edge.

Through no fault of his own, the coronavirus pandemic kept McGregor out of the Octagon for more than a year, something which the former champion took exception to in an interview with ESPN.

Whether he wins the trilogy fight or not, it seems like McGregor wants to end his inactivity and step into the cage multiple times this year, with a late summer or early autumn date in mind before one more fight to close the year.
