Queens Park Rangers ended their 2020/21 Championship campaign on a positive note last weekend as they secured a 3-1 victory over Luton Town.

As a result of this triumph, the Hoops secured a ninth-place finish in the second-tier.

Having made a significant amount of progress under the guidance of manager Mark Warburton since the turn of the year, it will be intriguing to see whether QPR are able to push on next season.

Any future success for the Hoops in the Championship may largely depend on whether they are able to get their recruitment spot-on this summer.

With Charlie Austin, Stefan Johansen, Sam Field and Jordy de Wijs all set to return to their respective clubs following the expiry of their loan deals at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, it will be intriguing to see whether QPR are able to sign these four players on permanent deals when the transfer window opens.

Making reference to this quartet, Warburton has insisted that he would like all of them to extend their stays at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium after being impressed by their displays.

Speaking to West London Sport, the Hoops boss said: "With Charlie, Stefan, Jordy and Sam we have been very lucky.

"They have adapted to our style of play and it suits their games and they have suited us perfectly.

"That doesn't often happen.

"You can get loans where it is difficult and you have young players who can't adapt, but in this case it has worked out really well for us.

"They have embraced the way we play.

"They are footballers who want to get on the ball, be brave and play forward."

Warburton later added: "I hope very much we can (sign them) but you never know and you always have to have alternatives.

"But I can't speak highly enough of the contribution all of them have made and the way the rest of the squad have responded.

"Let's see what the summer does."

GIVEMESPORT's Joshua Cole says...

When you consider that all four of the aforementioned players have managed to illustrate real signs of promise during their spells at QPR, it is hardly a surprise that Warburton wants to re-sign them on permanent deals.

Having both experienced promotion from the Championship during their respective careers, Austin and Johansen could use their previous experiences to their advantage by spearheading a potential push for a top-six finish next season.

Meanwhile, de Wijs illustrated in the 2020/21 campaign for the Hoops that he is more than capable of competing at this level by recording an impressive average WhoScored match rating of 7.18 which was a club-high total.

Still only 23-year-old, Field may end up developing into a classy operator under Warburton's guidance as the QPR boss has already nurtured the talents of Ilias Chair and Chris Willock in recent months and thus would be confident in replicating this feat with the midfielder.
