Famed journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that despite Manchester United's interest in Jude Bellingham, the Borussia Dortmund star is not for sale.

What's the latest news involving Jude Bellingham?

Bellingham has been a revelation since bursting onto the scene in the Bundesliga and his importance to Dortmund has been demonstrated through their eagerness to retain the midfielder this summer after Romano claimed he is "untouchable".

Romano said, "They won't negotiate with any club to sell Bellingham in the summer, there are no talks. Man Utd, Chelsea as [do] many other clubs appreciate him, but Jude is considered 'not for sale'."

The England international has unsurprisingly caught the attention of the top Premier League clubs with his performances in the Champions League impressive to say the least for such a young talent.

How did Bellingham perform vs Man City in the UCL?

Despite the German side crashing out of the Champions League, Bellingham was an important player in both legs of the tie against Man City. In the first leg he was exceptionally unlucky to see his goal controversially ruled out and had to wait until the second leg to score.

In the following 2-1 defeat at home, the 17-year-old put his side in the lead with a goal in the 15th minute. His performance made him Dortmund's highest rated player on the night with a rating of 7.3 (WhoScored).

Whilst his attacking presence was evident after scoring the opener, the defensive maturity was similarly remarkable remarkable for someone of his age.

He completed the joint most tackles (2) in the Dortmund side, the most blocks (2) and also made two clearances, before being substituted in the latter stages of the game.

And while these statistics may not seem so exceptional in isolation, the quality of opposition they came against shouldn't be forgotten.

Manchester City have been the best team in the Premier League by some distance this season and yet Bellingham has already put in two incredibly impressive performances against them.

What are Bellingham's stats this season?

Whilst the majority of players at the age of 17 have been plying their trade at youth level, Bellingham has made an impact for one of the biggest sides in the top tier of German football. He has featured 27 times in the Bundesliga, registering one goal and three assists so far.

He has been somewhat of a box-to-box powerhouse for Dortmund and based on WhoScored statistics, he has the second highest tackles per game (1.8) among the rest of the squad.

Alongside his defensive solidity he has also demonstrated his versatility. He has often featured from central midfield, although he has been utilised as a defensive and attacking midfielder this season.

Do Manchester United need another midfielder?

Arguably, yes.

United could potentially be in the market for a midfielder this summer to replace Paul Pogba whose contract is set to expire at the end of next season.

Despite Nemanja Matic's contract being set to run until 2023, at the age of 32 the Red Devils could be keen to venture into the market for a younger option to develop into the Serbian's replacement.

Whilst Romano has said Bellingham remains unavailable this summer, the interest from the United camp suggests that the club are keen to bolster their midfield options going forward.

It seems they'll have to wait to clinch the 17-year-old's signature, however.
