Journalist Nicolo Schira has revealed that Fiorentina are set to offer Liverpool target Dusan Vlahovic a new contract in a bid to fend off interest from rival clubs.
What's the latest news on Dusan Vlahovic?
The Serbian forward is set to be out of contract in Florence in 2023. However, Fiorentina are keen to keep the youngster, and are prepared to hand Vlahovic a new deal to keep him at the club until 2025.
If he accepts the offer, Vlahovic would earn €3m-a-year (£2.6m). The Serie A outfit are also prepared to insert a release clause of €60-70m (£51.8-60.4m), which could be triggered in 2022.
What's Liverpool's level of interest in Vlahovic?
They are not the only club who admire the 21-year-old, though. AC Milan have also spoken to Vlahovic's representatives, and Roma are said to be tracking the rising star.
How did he match Gabriel Batistuta this weekend?
Vlahovic inspired Fiorentina to a 2-0 victory over Lazio on Saturday, moving his side seven points clear of the relegation zone. He has now netted 12 goals in his last eight Serie A appearances.
His overall tally for the season in Italy's top division stands at 21, and his brace this weekend meant that he became just the fourth foreign player to score 20 league goals in a season for Fiorentina.
The last overseas player to do this before him was Gabriel Batistuta, who achieved the feat for the final time for La Viola in 1999/2000.
What is Vlahovic's potential?
Sky is the limit for Vlahovic.
Only Cristiano Ronaldo (27) has scored more goals than him in Serie A this term. Vlahovic has managed to keep pace with Romelu Lukaku in the scoring stakes - the Belgian attacker has just led Inter Milan to their first title in 11 years.
It is worth remembering that Vlahovic has been finding the net with such regularity for a bottom half club. It would be fascinating to see how much better he could be in a superior side where he would receive improved service.
With Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe linked with moves away this summer, there is the potential for Vlahovic to go under the radar. However, if he keeps performing at his current level, that will not be the case for much longer, and he may soon be mentioned in the same breath as Haaland and Mbappe as one of the best young strikers in European football.News Now - Sport News
