Edinson Cavani will be spending the 2021/22 campaign as a Manchester United player.

There was great scepticism surrounding United's last-gasp move for the Paris Saint-Germain forward, but their gamble on experience and proven goalscoring pedigree has really paid off.

And now that Cavani is restored to full fitness and given a fair crack of the whip in United's starting XI, he simply hasn't looked back and boasts a superb record of 15 goals in 35 appearances.

Cavani thriving at Man Utd

As such, it was something of a no-brainer for United to try and extend Cavani's stay at Old Trafford and he'll hopefully get the chance to play in front of 75,000 supporters next season.

It's a thrilling prospect that should have United fans rubbing their hands together because we're starting to see more and more moments from Cavani that are reminiscent of his peak years.

While we'll never get to see a 27-year-old Cavani with the famous number seven jersey on his back, he certainly produce some stunning moments that make us dream of that possibility.

Cavani's humiliating solo goal

That being said, for all of Cavani's evergreen quality this season, he'd be pretty hard-pressed to produce a better goal for United than his astonishing strike for PSG in the 2013/14 campaign.

On the back of the great news surrounding Cavani, we couldn't help looking back on some of his greatest ever moments and his jaw-dropping solo effort in Ligue 1 immediately came to mind.

It might not have been from the halfway line a la Lionel Messi against Getafe, but what makes it special is the pure humiliating skills that left the defence and goalkeeper looking silly.

Ibrahimovic couldn't get enough of it

It was such a badass goal, in fact, that Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave a brilliant reaction on the substitutes' bench, rising to his feet, giving a round of applause and laughing as if to say: 'What. A. Goal.'

But will you love it as much as Ibrahimovic did? Well, there's only one way to find out and that's by checking out Cavani's brilliant effort in all its glory down below:

Woof. Now that's the sort of quality you want to be keep around at the 'Theatre of Dreams' and it couldn't have been any clear that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was chuffed with the week's new.

Solskjaer delighted with Cavani's extension

The United boss reacted to Cavani's extension by saying: “I said when Edinson signed, that he would bring energy, power and leadership to this group and I haven’t been proved wrong, he has been everything I thought he would be and more.

“As coaches, we knew about his goalscoring record. However, it is his personality that has brought so much to this squad, he has a winning mentality and has an unequivocal attitude to everything he does.

“Edinson is one of the last to leave the training ground and sets the tone for the upcoming youngsters with his approach to his profession every single day.

"I have always wanted him to stay and experience the way our fans will respond to him as a player, and this means he will hopefully get that opportunity.” Too right, Ole, let's hope that's the case.
