Ryan Cresswell has been confirmed as Rotherham captain for the forthcoming season.
The 23-year-old defender wore the armband last term under former boss Ronnie Moore, but new manager Andy Scott had kept his options open during pre-season. But after leading the team in all of the Millers' friendlies, Scott has given Cresswell the nod.
"He is becoming more vocal. We have been on at him about leading the team," Scott said.
"We have got a natural vocal point in Jason Taylor but Ryan has taken all the information on board. He realises it works and helps by talking better and organises the back four.
"There is no reason at the moment to look at other options and everyone is comfortable with that."
Cresswell had recently stated his desire to retain the captaincy, saying: "I want to be captain for this club again. I did it last season, but I think I have got more to offer now."
