Cardiff defender Paul Quinn has told manager Malky Mackay he is fit and ready for the season opener against West Ham.

Quinn proved his fitness by playing the full 90 minutes in an Under-21s match against Blue Square Bet South side Weston.

"It was great to get the chance to play after being out for a while and I was delighted to play the whole 90 minutes at Weston," Quinn told the South Wales Echo. "I spoke to the manager and said if he needs me against West Ham, I'm ready."

The 26-year-old is now looking forward to helping the Bluebirds push for promotion again this year after narrowly missing out last season.

"It's going to be a long, hard Championship season and everybody in the squad is likely to be needed at some stage.

"I'm fit and available."
