Manchester United have handed a trial to Max Lonsdale after his release from Macclesfield Town.

The teenager approached Sir Alex Ferguson with video footage of himself playing, according to The Metro, and was subsequently handed a one week trial with Manchester United.

That trial was then extended to two weeks with the Red Devils, and Lonsdale would appear twice for the Manchester United second string during his time at Old Trafford.

The video delivered to the United boss has now become an internet hit in it's own right, with footage of the midfielder gaining close to 100,000 views on YouTube.

Lonsdale is currently waiting to hear if he will be offered a permanent contract at Manchester United, in what could be one of the most remarkable turn-around in fortunes for a footballer let go by an Npower League Two side.
