West Ham youngster Jordan Spence is poised to rejoin Bristol City on loan.

The 21-year-old defender made 11 Championship appearances for the Robins last season after moving to Ashton Gate in March.

Spence signed a three-year contract with the Hammers earlier in the summer and looked set for a run in the first team this term.

But new boss Sam Allardyce has since signed Joey O'Brien, with the former Bolton utility man now in line to become the club's first-choice right-back.

Nevertheless, Allardyce is likely to insert a recall clause into any deal for Spence, who could be in the City line-up to face Ipswich on Saturday.
