The flamboyant Italian, who attracted many headlines during his playing days in England, is charged with the task of guiding Swindon to immediate promotion from League Two following May`s relegation.

And he got his tenure off to the perfect start in front of 8,248 fans at the County Ground.

Youngster Billy Bodin hit a post early on and the Wales Under-21s international was involved in the opener, which came on the stroke of half-time, having been brought down by Adam Dugdale in the penalty area. Callum Kennedy striking home the resulting spot-kick.

Town skipper and Namibia international midfielder Oliver Risser doubled their advantage shortly after the hour mark with a sweet drive from 30 yards.

It was left for defender Aden Flint to round off a successful afternoon for the home side when he connected with Raffa De Vita`s left-wing cross to add a third from close range.
