Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Hleb is bracing himself for a Barclays Premier League return, according to reports.

The Belarus international spent last season on loan at Birmingham City, and Scottish boss Alex McLeish is keen to take the Barcelona ace away from Spain on a temporary basis once again.

Currently recovering from a knee injury in Germany, Barcelona sports chief Andoni Zubizarreta is once again expecting the player to make a short-term move away from the Nou Camp.

"He continues to recover in Munich. We're looking for a club he can join on loan."

Hleb first moved to England in 2005, joining Arsenal from Stuttgart in Germany for a fee reportedly in the region of €15 million.

Hleb would make 129 appearances in all competitions during his time at the Emirates, before Arsene Wenger sold the 30-year-old to Barcelona after a successful loan from Arsenal to the Spanish giants.

It's thought that Arsenal recouped the €15 million in the sale, plus additional financial add-ons to create a profit for the Gunners on the sale of the talented midfielder.

A Barclays Premier League return now appears a distinct possibility, with the Midlands a likely destination.
