Samuel Eto’o is set to sign for Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for a 'world record' £300,000 a week, according to the Daily Mirror.

Eto’o has long been rumoured to be moving away from Inter Milan, and rumours have connected the striker to numerous European clubs.

Chelsea in particular are said to have been considering bidding for the Cameroon international, and with only a few weeks left in the transfer window, Andre Villas-Boas is carefully considering his options.

Chelsea have been pushing for a more attacking style of football over the pre-season, and Eto’o would fit well into Villas-Boas’ plans to improve the forward line even further.

And while Chelsea will no doubt be keeping an eye on Eto’o’s moves, even Roman Abramovich might not be willing to pay the sky high wages.
