Arsenal have stepped up their chase of Juan Mata, with the star winger now ‘expected’ to join the Gunners by the end of the month, according to the Daily Mail.

Mata has long been a subject of transfer speculation, but the Gunners seemed to cool on the winger when they were unable to meet his price.

But Mata has now been freshly linked with a move to Arsenal, in the midst of the London club deciding to sell Samir Nasri to Manchester City.

The Gunners are on the lookout to increase their midfield power, and while fans will be angry about Nasri leaving for the same club as Gael Clichy, Wenger is hoping to wrap up a deal for Mata to move to Arsenal as soon as possible, to alleviate fears that the squad is much weaker than last season.

Arsenal are also reportedly looking at creative midfielder Jadson, as well as defenders Gary Cahill and Phil Jagielka, to build a squad that looks likely to lose their captain in the coming days.
