Arsenal haven’t approached Scott Dann over a possible transfer, according to Birmingham manager Chris Hughton, but the defender may still leave before deadline day.

Dann has established himself as one of the most consistent centre-backs in the Barclays Premier League, and after Birmingham were relegated, the 24-year-old looked set to leave in search of top-flight football.

But Hughton insists that there have been no talks with Arsenal over a deal.

"I'm not aware of any contact from Arsenal," Hughton said.

"But whether Scott will be with us after the deadline, I don't know."

Dann is worth around £6 million, according to ESPN, and Wenger moved to quash rumours that Arsenal might be chasing the defender as well.

“We currently have four central defenders,” the Gunners manager insisted.

“There is no need for another.”

But reports still speculate that Arsenal are in fact interested in Dann, and may make a last minute approach on deadline day for the star.
