Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Togolese international enjoyed a spell away from the Citizens at Real Madrid last term, and is expected to make a short-term switch away from the Etihad Stadium once again this summer.

Whilst Jose Mourinho was once again keen to take the player back to Spain, The Daily Express reports that Spurs are hoping to seal a deal for the player in the coming days.

Harry Redknapp is known to be in the market for a player in the position, with the Tottenham Hotspur boss eager to shuffle his attacking pack at White Hart Lane before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

With Robbie Keane confessing to a probable move earlier in the week and both Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko linked with moves away from north London, there could be plenty of activity on the horizon at Spurs despite the Barclays Premier League season kicking off in earnest tomorrow.

It doesn't for Tottenham Hotspur though, whose opening fixture against Everton has been canceled due to the riots in the capital.
