Manchester United will reportedly focus their attention on signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Goetze as their attempts to bring Wesley Sneijder to Old Trafford falter.

According to the Sunday Express, the Barclays Premier League champions had representatives in Stuttgart last week to run the rule over Goetze in Germany's 3-2 friendly win against Brazil.

Goetze scored on that occasion and, it is claimed, United are now contemplating an approach for the £20 million-rated teenager.

The 19-year-old is regarded as the most exciting young talent in German football and, along with United has seen himself linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona.

And, when questioned about the alleged interest of the famed trio, Goetze, as expected, admitted he has dreamt about playing those clubs in question.

He said: “Who would not dream of playing with a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United?”

Meanwhile, there are contradictory reports regarding United's pursuit of Sneijder, with some suggestions the proposed deal has broken down, while others claim drawn-out personal terms are being discussed.
