Samir Nasri could sign with Manchester City sooner than expected, according to Sky Sports, as negotiations push on following the departure of Cesc Fabregas.

Reports indicate that Roberto Mancini’s prime target could be landed in the coming days, adding further to Arsene Wenger’s summer troubles.

Arsenal’s Spanish captain left the club for Barcelona earlier this week, and Nasri could follow before the Emirates gates have even swung shut on August 31st.

The French midfielder has not re-signed a contract with the Gunners, and with just one year remaining on his current deal, Arsenal bosses are considering cashing in before it is too late.

The 24-year-old would be the second player to make the journey up the M1 from the north London club to the Etihad, after fellow Frenchman Gael Clichy became Roberto Mancini’s first signing of the summer.

Manchester City have a wealth of attacking midfielders, and the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips and Adam Johnson could be pushed further to the sidelines of Mancini’s agenda if the deal goes ahead.
