Liverpool have certainly been busy in the transfer market this summer but, reports claim, the Reds could be set to add one or two more faces to their ranks.

After the recent acquisition of Jose Enrique, the Merseyside club are now alleged to be focused on reinforcing their defence even further, with the signing of a centre-back high on the agenda.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Gary Cahill and Scott Dann in recent weeks and, according to an Anfield legend, the former would be an ideal addition to Kenny Dalglish's squad.

"Cahill is a fantastic player and I'm surprised there have not been more noises made about him," John Barnes told talkSPORT.

"There are a lot of clubs looking for centre-backs and he'd be a fantastic signing for Liverpool.

"Another striker would be nice, but defensively is where we really need it [strengthening]. And Cahill would be perfect."

Meanwhile, Liverpool youngster Daniel Pacheco looks set to join Spanish side Rayo Vallecano on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old spent a chunk of the last campaign with Norwich and, it would appear, will be sent out again to further his education.
