Kenny Dalglish is expected to continue his summer spending spree, and is reportedly poised to make a move for Wigan Athletic striker Hugo Rodallega, according to Metro.

The Colombian striker played just 20 minutes for The Latics during their draw with Swansea City, as he continues to recover from his exploit at the Copa America.

However, reports are suggesting that Liverpool, who have little back up for Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, with David N'Gog expected to leave for Bolton Wanderers, are ready to make a bid.

Roberto Martinez said: "He is a very important part of our plans. If he does well enough, it's only fair that we do not stand in his way if the chance of a big move comes along."

With Andy Carroll fitness inconsistent and Luis Suarez still recovering from his heroics at the Copa America, Rodallega, whose goal on the last day of the previous season helped Wigan stay in the Barclays Premier League, could an ideal replacement for Liverpool.

Liverpool had previously been interested in Connor Wickham before his move to Sunderland, and could even bid for Kevin Doyle.
