Blackburn, Bolton, Everton and Liverpool will all be looking to avoid a Carling Cup shock ahead of tonight's second round clashes in the competition.

Sky TV cameras have taken advantage of a potential upset in the West Country, with Paul Tisdale's Exeter City hosting Kenny Dalglish's Reds at St James' Park.

Liam Sercombe and striker Richard Logan are both doubts for the Grecians, whilst Liverpool are set to rest a handful of first team players against the Npower League One side.

Fellow Merseysiders Everton host Sheffield United at Goodison Park, with David Moyes looking to bring some silverware to the Toffees' trophy cabinet.

Tim Cahill and Jermaine Beckford are doubts, whilst Diniyar Bilyaletdinov is suspended. Stephen Quinn and Ryan Flynn are both touch-and-go for the visiting Blades.

Macclesfield Town travel to the Reebok Stadium in hope more than expectation, with Tuncay in-line to make his debut for the Trotters.

Gretar Steinsson is also out, while the Silkmen look to follow-up their first round victory against Hull City with the same side that drew 0-0 against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

Sheffield Wednesday are another side fighting the odds when they travel to Blackburn tonight, with Gary Megson looking to make changes to the Owls side that beat Notts County over the weekend.

Captain Rob Jones is set to return to the line-up for the match at Ewood Park, whilst Mark Bunn, Bruno Ribeiro, Radosav Petrovic and Jason Lowe are all tipped to start for the hosts.

Elsewhere, Bristol City host Swindon Town, whilst Aldershot Town face the tricky task of travelling to East London to face West Ham United.

In the only all Npower Championship tie of the night, Peterborough United host Middlesbrough on the back of their 7-1 win over Ipswich Town.
