Scunthorpe have completed the signing of Manchester United midfielder Oliver Norwood on loan until January.

The 20-year-old is in line to make his debut in the Iron's Carling Cup clash with Newcastle.

The Northern Ireland international told Scunthorpe's official website: "I'm really excited to be here. I first heard about the move last Thursday but we couldn't get the deal done in time for the weekend."

He added: "I spoke to (Manchester United manager) Sir Alex Ferguson on Saturday morning and he said it's a really great club to come and play at.

"Every one of the lads has made me feel really welcome. I was feeling a little nervous before I came in so to meet such a friendly bunch was really reassuring."

Norwood has yet to make a senior appearance at Old Trafford and spent part of last season on loan at fellow League One club Carlisle.
