West Ham are weighing up a £1million-plus bid for MK Dons striker Sam Baldock.

Manager Sam Allardyce is desperate to bring in another forward ahead of next week's transfer deadline.

The Hammers have already signed John Carew after he left Aston Villa but missed out on Shane Long, Craig Mackail-Smith, Nicky Maynard and most recently Eric Mouloungui, who says he wants to stay with current club Nice.

Allardyce has watched Baldock play against Chesterfield and Norwich in the last week, during which he has scored four goals and set up another three.

The 22-year-old held talks with Peterborough earlier this summer.
