'Untouchable' Agbonlahor has what it takes

With the summer departures of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing, the role of Gabriel Agbonlahor could take on an even greater importance for Aston Villa this season.

Along with Darren Bent, Agbonlahor will be expected to find the net with increasing regularity during the new campaign - something the duo were able to do against Blackburn last weekend.

Agbonlahor, 24, scored a quite stunning effort at Villa Park; turing Michel Salgado inside-out before curling the ball into the top corner past a helpless Paul Robinson.

It was a clear example of what Agbonlahor is capable of and, says Stiliyan Petrov, there is plenty more to come from the versatile forward.

"When you have Gabby on your team, I think the opposition are frightened of his pace, of his strength, in fact everything that he's got," said the Villa midfielder.

"If he's on the top of his game I think he's untouchable. He can do whatever he wants.

"Look at his performance against a world-class right-back in Michel Salgado the other day. He was so powerful with his speed and look at the way he scored the goal. That's Gabby.

"I liked the goal against Blackburn, but he has scored a lot of good goals. I remember against Fulham a couple of seasons ago. He was great that day.

"When you see a player like him driving forward who wants to get into the box and score you will see goals like that. Gabby's that type of player.

"He's scored some important goals. When you have him in the team you can always count on him getting in a position where he will score goals.

"He can get himself in these positions and if we can keep him fully fit for this season then he can get between 15 and 20 goals."
