Chelsea would reportedly be prepared to sell Alex to Juventus, so long as the Italian club were willing to include Milos Krasic in any proposed deal.

According to talkSPORT, Juve are desperate to land the Brazilian defender and would, as the Blues wish, allow Krasic to move in the opposite direction in order to bring Alex to Turin.

Chelsea are known to be in the market for a creative influence in midfield and, with their pursuit of Luka Modric seemingly set to end, Krasic could be seen as an alternative to the Croatian playmaker.

Despite reports suggesting Chelsea would make an offer of £30 million in an attempt to bring Modric to Stamford Bridge, Tottenham have no intention of selling the midfielder.

"It's been difficult for him but we want him to stay and he will stay," said Spurs boss Harry Redknapp. "He should be fit for [Manchester City].

"He could have kicked up and been a problem and if he had done it would have been difficult to keep him.

"If players want to be destructive they can be but he's not got that in his nature.

"He'll stay and play and will be great as he has been every other year."

Chelsea, meanwhile, could hand a debut to recent acquisition Juan Mata against Norwich on Saturday.

The Spaniard, who was signed by Chelsea from Valencia, is available for selection after impressing in training this week.
