Sam Williams thought he had earned Dagenham & Redbridge three points against Torquay but Rene Howe's late penalty earned the visitors a 1-1 npower League Two draw.

High-flying Crawley came a cropper at Cheltenham, who netted three times in the first half to secure a 3-1 win.

Kaid Mohamed, Marlon Pack and Jeff Goulding all scored for the Robins, while Matt Tubbs hit home a penalty for the visitors.

Fellow new-boys AFC Wimbledon also suffered an away defeat, going down 4-0 at Macclesfield.

Shaun Brisley opened the scoring in the third minute and his goal was followed up by efforts from Tony Diagne, Emile Sinclair and Arnaud Mendy.

James Constable gave Oxford the lead against Aldershot but Luke Guttridge earned the visitors a point, despite having Anthony Straker sent off.

Crewe moved off the bottom of League Two with their first victory of the season, with Shaun Miller condemning Plymouth to a 1-0 home defeat.

Swindon midfielder Matt Ritchie's effort was gazumped at Shrewsbury as the home side came from behind to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Terry Gornell and Marvin Morgan.

Finally, Southend held on at Port Vale to secure a 3-2 victory.

Doug Loft netted a brace at Vale Park but the Shrimpers triumphed, with Mark Phillips, Liam Dickinson and Ryan Leonard all finding the net.
