Sheffield Wednesday are in talks to sign former Newcastle and Portsmouth striker Lomana LuaLua.

The 30-year-old Congolese international is a free agent following his release from Cypriot club Omonia this summer and knows Owls chairman Milan Mandaric from their time together at Pompey.

Manager Gary Megson told the Sheffield Star: "We're just having talks with him to see if we can come to an agreement."

He added: "That's as far as it's gone."

"Milan knows him from his time at Portsmouth.

"We're seeing if we can agree something that suits both parties but that hasn't happened yet."
