Sky Sports News have confirmed that Arsenal's pursuit of Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is back on.

The Spaniard was linked with a £10 million move to the Emirates earlier on deadline day, before reports that the deal had gone dead early evening.

However, the TV channel reports that with less than two hours remaining in the transfer window, Arsenal are back in for the Spaniard.

Arsene Wenger is keen to resolve the creative midfield situation in north London following the departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri from the Gunners earlier in August.

Talks are on-going between the two parties, but Arsenal will have to move quickly to secure the signing before 11pm tonight.

Wenger is thought to be very keen to secure the midfielder's move to Arsenal, and SSN have also reported that the player has asked to move to a club that will play Champions League football this season.

The club are also thought to remain keen on Yossi Benayoun, who is close to making a loan move to Arsenal.
