David Moyes will be handed a ‘chunk’ of the £10 million transfer fee from Mikel Arteta’s exit to use on transfers next January, according to the Daily Mail, with the manager aiming for a striker and midfielder.

Arteta was sold to Arsenal at the last minute on transfer deadline day, and Moyes was given literally no time to spend the money or bring in a replacement for the midfielder.

Everton have seen financial problems increase over the summer, and Moyes admitted that there was no possibility of borrowing money to fund new players.

Deadline day saw the club sign Royston Drenthe and Denis Stracqualursi on loan spells, but Everton are reportedly hoping to land a striker and midfielder next January.

Arteta told Everton TV he couldn’t turn down the opportunity of playing Champions League football, and when Arsenal made an offer he informed Moyes he wanted to leave.
