QPR Holdings vice-chairman Amit Bhatia has insisted that David Beckham is not moving to the club this season, but has hinted that the Hoops may target the Manchester United legend in the future.

“There’s absolutely no truth in it,” Bhatia said of the rumours.

“David Beckham is a great player and I hope in the next few years we’ll be signing players of such stature, but not now.”

Beckham, who spent 12 years with Manchester United, was always expected to return to United if he made a move back to England. But with QPR hoping to stay in the Barclays Premier League this season, the club are said to be making some big movements in the transfer market and have already begun planning their strategy for January.

Bhatia said though that the club is so far very happy with their signings, which include Newcastle star Joey Barton and Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

“We’re extremely pleased with the signings. We’ve given ourselves a fair chance of staying up and the feedback we’ve had from the management and fans is that everybody is happy,” Bhatia said.

Manchester United fans will be particularly pleased to see Beckham return to England, even if it isn’t to Old Trafford.
