Michael Richardson has returned to Newcastle following the end of his month-long loan spell at Leyton Orient.

The 19-year-old midfielder played four games for Russell Slade's side and scored in the Carling Cup win at Southend.

"I'd like to thank Michael for his hard work over the last month," said Slade.

"He'll go back to Newcastle with our best wishes."

Slade will dip back into the loan market ahead of Saturday's trip to Colchester after Stephen Dawson, Elliot Omozusi and Jonathan Tehoue were injured during Wednesday night's epic 14-13 penalty shoot-out defeat by Dagenham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Skipper Dawson has an ankle problem, defender Omozusi picked up a calf injury and striker Tehoue suffered a suspected broken arm.
