Hatem Ben Arfa is on track to make a comeback for Newcastle within the next fortnight, when the Toon take on Aston Villa, according to the midfielder's agent.

Ben Arfa broke his leg last season and has undergone a long process of recovery. After making returning for Newcastle’s pre season USA tour, the Frenchman was injured once more, and has been particularly frustrated by being out of action so far this season.

But agent Simon Stainrod believes that Ben Arfa is edging closer to a long-awaited comeback to the Barclays Premier League, and Alan Pardew will no doubt be delighted to hear that he will have his star man back on board within the next two weeks.

“He is training again now and it is looking good for him to be fit to play within the next 10 to 14 days so I would imagine that he would be back in Premier League action this month,” Stainrod told

“Hatem is raring to go again because he has worked really hard on his fitness since he broke his leg and was really frustrated that he had to miss the start of the season after getting an ankle injury on the tour of America.

“Newcastle fans have only had a glimpse of what he can do but he will be desperate to make up for lost time and I am sure he will put smiles on lots of faces.

"If people stop kicking him he will be fine but he is not the sort of person who would be mentally scarred by what has happened in the past.”

Newcastle have had a positive start to the season, clocking up two wins and a draw and sitting at sixth in the Barclays Premier League table.
