Nacional director Alejandro Balbi has confirmed that talks are set to take place between the Uruguayan club and Liverpool over a possible 'exchange programme'.

Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli had previously claimed talks were to take place between the two parties following the signing of Sebastian Coates from the club.

And now, Balbi has revealed that these discussions are scheduled to take place within the next 14 days.

“We will meet in the next few weeks to come to an arrangement over an exchange programme," said the club director.

"Liverpool have seen that a lot of talent has come through our Academy in recent years – not just Luis Suarez and Sebastian Coates , but 14 of the 23 who won the Copa America, and so they expressed an interest in establishing a formal connection.”

Reports in the Liverpool Echo claim the Reds are looking to tie-up a five-year deal with Nacional, a deal which could give Kenny Dalglish first pick on some of their top young talent coming through the ranks.

Yesterday, GiveMeFootball highlighted five of the possible players Liverpool could target, with Sebastian Charquero, Matias Cabrera and Nicolas Lopez three players the Anfield outfit could pursue.
