Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Brazilian starlet Neymar, with Barcelona officials flying to Sao Paulo to shore up a deal with the striker, according to Talksport.

After terrific performances for both Santos and the Brazilian national team, Neymar has drawn interest from the world’s richest clubs, with a bidding war ensuing over the youngster’s signature.

Chelsea have been the front runners in England to acquire Neymar, reported by ESPN to be worth £45 million, though after Andre Villas-Boas took over the managerial post at the Blues, interest seems to have cooled in the wonderkid.

Yesterday Neymar confirmed that bids from Barcelona and Real Madrid had been discussed, and with Barca officials now in Brazil to work out a deal, Chelsea look to have even less of a chance of tying down the Brazil international.

David Luiz recently said though that he hopes Neymar will join Chelsea and his fellow Brazilians at Stamford Bridge, and the camaraderie may just get the London club over the line.
